never have i been so disgusted by an article.
"One Town's War on Gay Teens"
SO interesting the ways that hate can be embedded into our societies, even in the "public education" sector. i cried like a baby last week in a lab reading this for the simple fact that it is SO close to here, but seems like a world away. what makes it even more sad is that the exact same thing is happening ALL OVER the country, even here in eau claire. it is so real that is scares me shitless to think that friends i have or may in the future had to go through the shit these adults are allowing to happen. it isn't about religion or "family values" or political position. it is about being a human being. period.
i look forward to the day when religion is no longer used as a weapon, whenever that may be. i want my religion and beliefs to bring people together to love one another and thrive, not separate them and hurt one another. these things shouldn't be happening, and something needs to happen now, regardless of your religious and political beliefs, for the safety of the kids in these districts. seriously.
